Dr. Kaustubh Dhargalkar
An entrepreneur-turned-academician & Innovation evangelist, speaker at TEDx platforms,
founded three companies from 1990 to 2005 in the domain of Machine tools and automation.
Sold his commercial interests in these companies in 2005, took a year off to learn the science
of Yoga (in 2005-06, explored Yoga at the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Sanstha,
Bangalore, Kaivalyadham, Lonavala and later at Bihar School of Yoga, Rikhia-Jharkhand) and
then plunged into academics & research (2006 onward). Has mentored 100+ startups since
then.
Currently, Kaustubh consults large corporates on How to Enhance their Innovation Quotient.
He trains executives in Design Thinking. He is a visiting faculty at well-known Business Schools
& a Guest Speaker at various Educational Institutions.
As a passion, he works with Startups helping them scale by building robust business models.
He is a mentor at Center for Innovation Incubation & Enterprise - IIM-Ahmedabad, National
Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) and other such platforms.

Contributions at Weschool:
1. Key member of the team responsible for curriculum design of the PGDMBusiness
Design program from 2006 till date. We have had six revisions to
the curriculum in an attempt to keep the course contemporary.
2. Designed and taught various new courses which are not a part of
conventional management school curricula such as “Design Insights( now
rechristened as Thinking Tools for Innovators”)&“Triggers for Innovation”.
After being introduced in the Business Design program, these courses have
now become a part of the regular curricula of other programs at the
campus as well. The focus of the first course is to open up the minds of
young students to a world of possibilities, going beyond feasibilities and
constraints, Need identification and Opportunity spotting. The second one
focuses on Value Chain Analysis.
(Consistently rated between 4.6 to 4.9 on a scale of 5 by students)
3. Set up the Innovation lab called, Innowe- Centre for Innovation &
Memetics, a pioneering idea on a B-School campus in 2008. At Innowe,
alongwith students, we explore unconventional tools of Consumer Research,
multi-disciplinary approaches to discover latent needs and hence new
opportunities. New Business Models are conceived & prototyped.
Corporate projects are also undertaken under Innowe. Typically, these
projects involve a deep dive to mine consumer insights for creation of new
offerings and identification of new markets.
Blue Sky research too is an integral part of Innowe’s activities.
Entrepreneurial initiatives of students are taken up too.
4. Set up the Venture Mentoring platform at the campus, have mentored
student entrepreneurs by creating a structured Mentoring platform
comprising external investors and entrepreneurs.
5. Responsible for bringing live Industry projects into the classroom and
weaving them into the curriculum on a regular basis.
6. Instrumental in Weschool’s tie up with MIT’s Venture Mentoring Services,
MIT’s Media Lab and the Biodesign Lab at Harvard University.
7. Introduced and institutionalized two annual event on the campus:
a. Mashup – A Real-time Entrepreneurship event bringing together
practicing entrepreneurs and students
b. Wedvan – An All-India Management School Festival
